Huw will begin by drawing out the image as accurately as possible, this can take up to 3 days depending on the scale.

When he is happy with the drawing, he applies a thin wash of oil paint and turps as a core base colour for the piece. This dries overnight and then Huw can begin working on layering and marking out the painting.  This includes building in depth structure and shadow as he progresses.

A painting can take from 4 weeks to 4 months to complete.
